چکیده

In recent years several automatic 3D meshing algorithms have emerged. However direct analysis of CAD models is still elusive. Among the major obstacles preventing automation is the necessity to edit the CAD models to be suitable both for the analysis objectives and the available meshing algorithms. Such editing includes topology correction and validation, detail suppression and decomposition. Editing the geometry directly (e.g. surface redeenitions) is cumbersome, tedious, and expensive. Introducing virtual topology allows such operations as modiications to the topology only. In this work the concept and operators of virtual topology are described, along with their use in performing the required editing of the model. A set of automatic and semi-automatic tools for the various editing operations are introduced.

Generating analysis topology using virtual topology operators

Virtual topology operations have been utilized to generate an analysis topology definition suitable for downstream mesh generation. Detailed descriptions are provided for virtual topology merge and split operations for all topological entities, where virtual decompositions are robustly linked to the underlying geometry. Current virtual topology technology is extended to allow the virtual partit...

An Art Gallery approach to submap meshing

The Art Gallery Theorem and its lemmas have been used since the 1990s in the area of computer graphics to decompose orthogonal polygons into convex sub-regions. This paper extends and improvises Art Gallery concepts to non-orthogonal, generic polygons to perform a multiblock decomposition of faces into a set of maximal, single-loop, convex sub-faces. Concepts such as staircase, dent and notch a...

Improved Imprint and Merge for Conformal Meshing

This paper presents an algorithm for imprinting and merging adjacent parts. Imprint and merge is often used to facilitate generation of conformal meshes between adjacent parts. The algorithm tolerantly intersects the discretized boundary edges of adjacent faces to calculate the imprint Boolean. An input tolerance is used during the process to minimize the effect imprinting has on the meshing pr...

Critical fixed point theorems in Banach algebras under weak topology features

In this paper, we establish some new critical fixed point theorems for the sum $AB+C$ in a Banach algebra relative to the weak topology, where $frac{I-C}{A}$ allows to be noninvertible. In addition, a special class of Banach algebras will be considered.

Surface Reconstruction and 3D Shape Processing for Cultural Applications

This paper proposes a practical, topologically robust and ranging error resistive shape modelling procedure that approximates a real object, with the matrix-format data structure, for 3D shape processing. Virtual manipulations, such as local shape modification and transcription are demonstrated. A geometric model with the desired meshing is directly reconstructed based on a solid modelling appr...
